by Richard Dawkins
First published in 2006, The God Delusion caused something of stir amongst established thinkers and 2 years later the mere mention of the name Richard Dawkins is almost certain to instigate a furious debate.
In his book, the author set’s out his message that to God is not only a delusion but a ‘pernicious’ or destructive notion.
Dawkins pursues this argument by discrediting the traditional reasons which suppose that a God does exist and by offering reasons as to why we should consider the contrary?
Dawkins argues that far from having to worship to some almighty deity we should live our lives without fear of eternal damnation and that, in fact, religion has caused more evil in the world than it has cured.
Whichever side of the fence you chose to occupy the debate about whether there is or is not a God is as topical now as it has ever been?
